Como 1907 Signs former Barcelona Captain Sergi Roberto

Como 1907 is excited to announce the signing of midfielder Sergi Roberto on a two year contract. The former Barcelona captain, who joined the club as a 14 year old and went on to win seven La Liga championships and two Champions Leagues, joins the club as a free agent.

Sergi has 479 competitive appearances under his belt including playing in the Copa del Rey, FIFA Club World Cup and for the Spanish National team. 

Commenting on the signing, head coach Cesc Fàbregas commented “Sergi has played his whole career so far at one of the best clubs in the world. He is a versatile player and can adapt to many different positions, midfield, full-back, with his passing accuracy and strength he is the definition of a box to box player. His experience will be crucial for the season ahead.”

On signing for the club, Sergi said: “I see this as a new challenge in my career, I really believe in the project, I met the owners and they are very excited about this, I think they are doing the right things and I’m happy to be part of it. When Cesc first contacted me, he explained to me the ambitions of the club coming from lower divisions all the way to Serie A in five years, and his ambition as a coach. So it’s exciting for me to come and be part of the growth of the club. I think I can help achieve the goals of the club with hard work and I’m looking forward to getting started”.
